PRESS REVIEWS

Stray Flower by Nandi Nastasja (Namibia/Germany, 15 min.) takes us even further back into the past. In 1904, the German colonial power in South West Africa suppressed the rebellion of the Herero and Nama. Hinavandu (Tjiurimo Kandjii), a young Herero, is able to get to a refugee camp before the war. After the fighting has ended, the refugees are waiting to be taken back to their villages. But Hinavandu is suspicious. "Stray Flower" shows a very dark chapter of German history in atmospheric, shimmering images, with magnificent music and a fascinating leading actress - a touching, deeply sad cinematic work."
